You don't don't have to install Game Pass games. Yeah that is one of the other horrible things. It can happen on any MS Store app.

Ended up having to boot into a Linux OS on flash drive and deleting the folder to finally get that space back. Now I can set the drive as my default WindowsApps installation folder.

The idea of an OS I paid money for telling me I don't own nor have the rights to delete the data in the hardware I paid for infuriates me beyond measure.
